ABB error codes

This page covers ABB fast chargers of the HVC and Terra DC families. ABB does not publish the list of their error codes: this page lists the codes received from chargers supervised by Chargekeeper and explains how to read them.

Where to read the code: in Chargekeeper, charging station list, connector details, Information column (or the active sessions list, Information column). It shows “OCPP code - vendor code - information”. See Manufacturer error codes.

How ABB reports its errors

  • The chargers appear in the supervision under the models MD_HVC_CAR (HVC family) and MD_TERRA_D (Terra DC family). The exact product behind each name is not confirmed.
  • The vendor code most often holds a stop reason in the form StopReason:<Name>, for example StopReason:GlobalInterlockFail. It usually comes with the OCPP code OtherError, sometimes with no OCPP code.
  • Other codes are a bare event name without prefix, for example ConnectorRemovedFromHolder.
  • The information field is empty, or holds an ABB internal state such as EST_UNDEF_NOSTART.
  • StopReason:NoError is the most frequent value. Judging by its name, it would be a neutral status rather than a fault (to be confirmed).
  • ABB does not publish the list of these codes. The public manuals of the HVC and Terra DC chargers contain no code table: their troubleshooting chapter refers to ABB service. For a fault that persists, contact ABB E-mobility service and give them the code received.
  • Lead for StopReason:GlobalInterlockFail, with no official definition: in the HVC manuals, a hardware interlock loop (interlock, or DC guard loop) links the power cabinet and the charge post (to be confirmed).
  • The hexadecimal codes of ABB Terra AC chargers (AC wallboxes) are documented by ABB but are not covered by this page.

Codes seen on our chargers, not documented by ABB

These codes were received from chargers supervised by Chargekeeper but do not appear in the manufacturer's public documentation. The label is the one sent by the charger itself.
