Hager error codes
This page covers Hager witty charging stations: witty park (XEV6xx, XEV6xxC), witty park 2 (XVP222S, XVG222S), witty plus (XVL122…), witty pro, witty share (XEV1R22T2…) and witty XEV1Kxx. It details the codes the charging station can send to the supervision, then the lights and the display, which remain the main source of information on these stations.
Where to read the code: in Chargekeeper, charging station list, connector details, column
Information (or the in-progress sessions list, column Information). It shows
"OCPP code - vendor code - information". See Manufacturer error codes.
How Hager reports its errors
Hager publishes no list of OCPP vendor codes for its witty stations. On charging stations supervised by Chargekeeper, most witty stations send no vendor code: only the information field sometimes describes the error. When a code does arrive, it takes two forms:
- a text code, for example
CableFailureorWeldedContactFailure. These codes match the errors Hager documents in the diagnostic file of the witty XEV1Kxx ("Cable Failure", "CP Failure"…), sent without spaces ("Cable Failure" arrives asCableFailure). The information field may complete them (for examplecable_32orEV side disconnected); - a numeric code with an English label in the information field (for example
Fuse fault). Hager does not document these codes: see the section "Codes seen on our charging stations".
Other faults can only be read on the station: lights, display (witty park 2), diagnosis tab of the web configurator (witty park, 2023 manual), "Live Debug" and "Logs" pages of the configurator (witty park 2, witty share Eichrecht) or the Diagnostics menu of the mobile app (witty plus, witty pro). Hager does not list the texts shown by these tools.
On the witty park (2023 manual), setting EV41 stops charging when the reactive current exceeds 2.5 A; the station then sends OCPP status SuspendedEVSE.

Lights and display
The light pattern depends on the model and, for some, on the product version. Start with the table of your model.
witty park XEV6xx — 2023 manual (rev. D)
On a fault the light is solid red and the error description is shown in the diagnosis tab of the station's web configurator.
| Signal | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Red solid | Station in fault; the exact cause is given in the diagnosis tab of the web configurator | Read the diagnosis tab of the station configurator; for a selector fault, have a qualified electrician switch off, wait 15 s, set an allowed value and switch on; otherwise try another cable / vehicle before sending an electrician |
| Red solid 3 s + supply cut | Welded contactor contact detected; supply cut through the MZ203 shunt-trip coil | Send an electrician to check and replace the contactor |
| Red/white 3x then green | RFID badge not accepted | Check the badge in the CPMS or the local whitelist; retry with a valid badge |
| Off | No power on the station | Check the upstream circuit breaker and residual-current device |
witty park XEV6xx — 2017 manuals
First generation: the number of red blinks gives the fault type. Depending on its board or firmware, a witty park follows this table or the previous one; Hager does not say which.
| Signal | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Red blinking 1x | Charging cable rejected: cable faulty or not supported | Try another charging cable; if it persists with several cables, have the socket inspected |
| Red blinking 2x | Pilot (CP) line shorted to earth — station and vehicle cannot communicate (IEC 61851 state E) | Unplug and try another cable; if it persists, check the vehicle inlet and the station socket |
| Red blinking 3x | Vehicle drew more current than the station allowed, four times in the same session | Unplug and start a new session; if it repeats with the same vehicle, refer the driver to the vehicle maker |
| Red blinking 4x | Vehicle requests a ventilated charging area (IEC 61851 state D); charging is refused | Charge the vehicle on another compatible station |
| Red blinking 5x | Load shedding triggered too often (four times in one session); the supply is too small for the demand | Review the load-management settings or the subscribed power with the site owner |
| Red blinking 6x | Abnormal pilot signal between station and vehicle | Try another cable; if it persists, have the earth connection and the socket checked by an electrician |
| Red blinking fast | RFID badge not accepted | Check the badge is enabled in the CPMS or in the local whitelist; retry with a valid badge |
| Red solid | Forbidden configuration: the maximum-current selector is on a value not allowed for this wiring, or a welded contactor contact was detected | Have a qualified electrician switch off, wait 15 s, set the selector to an allowed value and switch on (green light expected); if the selector is correct, treat as a welded contactor and send an electrician |
| Red solid 3 s + supply cut | Welded contactor contact detected; the station trips its supply through the MZ203 shunt-trip coil | Do not re-arm repeatedly; send an electrician to check and replace the contactor |
| Red/blue blinking fast | Station cannot reach the supervision (OCPP) server | Check the station network link and the OCPP server URL / ChargePoint ID / credentials |
| Off | No power on the station | Check the upstream circuit breaker and residual-current device |
| Green/blue blinking slow | Vehicle exceeded the allowed current (one to three times in the session); charging continues | None; at the fourth occurrence the station stops (red blinking 3x) |
| Blue undulating | Charging limited or paused by load management (power reduction, external stop signal, load shedding 1 to 3 times) | None; normal behaviour |
witty park 2 (XVP222S, XVG222S)
Error messages are shown on the station screen; Hager does not list them.
| Signal | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Red solid | Station faulty / critical error; charging not possible | Switch the station off for 2 minutes to reset; read the message on the station screen; if it follows installation work, have the phase order checked |
| Red blinking | Error in the charging station | Follow the on-screen instructions |
| RFID reader red | RFID card refused | Check the card in the CPMS |
witty plus and witty pro (XVL122…)
Hager documents only one generic fault state.
| Signal | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Red solid | Station faulty (critical error) | Switch the station off for 2 minutes to clear the error; if it persists, check the app Diagnostics menu and contact Hager technical support |
| Red blinking | RFID badge not valid | Check the badge in the CPMS / station access control |
| Red blinking (dial on 7 or 9) | Not a fault: output-contact test (dial on 7) or factory reset in progress (dial on 9) | Have a qualified electrician power off, set the dial back to 0–6 (current setting) and power on |
witty share XEV1R22T2x, witty XEV1K22T2x and XEV1K07T2x — 2023 guide
Hager states that the signalling varies with the product version. Several causes share the same blink count: the light alone does not identify the fault.
| Signal | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Red blinking 1x | Cable fault or interrupted pilot exchange with the vehicle | Replace the charging cable |
| Red blinking 2x | RFID card not recognised, or vehicle not recognised | Retry; have the card enabled; replace the cable; if it persists, check connections and refer to the vehicle dealer |
| Red blinking 3x | Vehicle over-consumption, ventilation/temperature issue, vehicle communication error, or (depending on version) DC fault current | Unplug, ventilate if needed, retry; if it persists, refer to the vehicle dealer |
| Red blinking 8x | DC fault current of 6 mA detected (on versions using 8 blinks for this fault) | Refer the driver to the vehicle dealer |
| Red blinking 4x | Local network problem (Ethernet/Wi-Fi) or communication error with the internal energy meter | Check network cabling and that a DHCP router is present; use a compatible station |
| Red blinking 5x | Charging interrupted: over-temperature, insufficient building supply, or Mode 2 socket protection tripped | Remove the cause (cool down, reduce load, re-arm the Mode 2 circuit protection) |
| Red blinking 6x | Station cannot establish a correct connection with the vehicle, or RFID reader / hardware failure | Replace the cable; if it persists, contact the installer or Hager technical support |
| Red solid | Critical error (e.g. RFID reader failure, defective or misconfigured hardware) | Switch the station off for 2 minutes to reset; if it persists, send a qualified electrician / contact Hager technical support |
| Red pulsing | Vehicle charging in emergency (degraded) mode | Find and fix the cause; contact the vehicle dealer if needed |
| White blinking 2x | Local network problem (Ethernet/Wi-Fi) or no link with the flow energy-management controller | Check network connections and DHCP; reconnect the station to the flow controller |
witty share Eichrecht (XEV1R22T2ER)
| Signal | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Red blinking 1x | Mode 3 socket cable fault (bad PP) or pilot short circuit (state E) | Try another cable |
| Red blinking 2x | RFID card rejected | Check the card is enabled in the CPMS / whitelist |
| Red blinking 3x | Vehicle over-consumption, ventilation request (state D), vehicle communication error or 6 mA DC fault current | Unplug and retry; if it repeats with one vehicle, refer to the vehicle maker |
| Red blinking 4x | No communication with the internal MID energy meter or the LSC metering capsule | Power-cycle; if it persists, contact Hager technical support |
| Red blinking 5x | Charging reduced or interrupted by high temperature, or Mode 2 socket protection open | Let the unit cool; re-arm the Mode 2 socket protection |
| Red solid | Critical error | Switch the station off for 2 minutes to reset; have a qualified electrician check the selector position; if it persists, send an electrician (phase order, missing phase, hardware) |
| White blinking | Local network link lost or not configured (Ethernet/Wi-Fi) | Check the network configuration of the station |
| White solid (communication lost) | Connection to the OCPP server lost | Check the OCPP server URL, ChargePoint ID and credentials, and the network |
| FF | Error shown on the calibration-law meter display: the charging station is not working | Contact the station operator / Hager technical support |
Other models: witty XEV1Kxx — 2021 manual
The blink count is also written in the station's diagnostic file (see the text codes above).
| Signal | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Red solid | Internal fault: meter link (TIC) fault, welded 40 A contactor, or faulty/disconnected DC leakage sensor | Send an electrician to find and repair the cause |
| Red pulsing | Charging in degraded mode, limited to 7 A single-phase / 13 A three-phase | Have the meter link (TIC) checked by an electrician |
| Green blinking fast | DC leakage above 6 mA detected from the vehicle; after three detections the station switches to red blinking 8x | Refer the driver to the vehicle dealer |
| Red blinking 1x | Charging cable faulty or not supported | Replace the cable |
| Red blinking 2x | Vehicle detection does not work | Replace the cable; if it persists, check vehicle and station sockets, then call Hager technical support |
| Red blinking 3x | Vehicle does not respect the current limit set by the station | Unplug and retry; if it persists, call Hager technical support |
| Red blinking 4x | Vehicle requires ventilation management, which this station does not provide | Charge on another compatible station |
| Red blinking 5x | Load shedding too frequent because the building supply is insufficient | Suggest a TIC card upgrade (meter-based load management) or a higher subscription |
| Red blinking 6x | Station does not receive a valid charge authorisation signal from the vehicle | Replace the cable; if it persists, call Hager technical support |
| Red blinking 8x | Vehicle generates a DC fault current that prevents charging | Refer the driver to the vehicle dealer |
