Autel error codes
This page covers the Autel MaxiCharger AC (Compact, Ultra, Wallbox, Elite) and MaxiCharger DC charging stations. It explains how to read the vendor code sent by the MaxiCharger AC, lists Autel's faults and explains the LEDs.
Where to read the code: in Chargekeeper, charging station list, connector details, Information column (or the active sessions list, Information column). It shows "OCPP code - vendor code - information". See Manufacturer error codes.
How Autel reports errors
Autel documents its faults as a fault word: each fault is one bit, and the manuals give the value of each bit in hexadecimal (01, 02, 04… 40000000), as shown in Autel Charge Cloud. The fault description is shown in the Autel Charge app and on the charger display.
In the vendor code (vendorErrorCode), the charger does not send the hexadecimal value but the bit position of each active fault, followed by a comma (to be confirmed):
6,= bit 6 =40= ground fault;17,= bit 17 =20000= socket electronic lock fault;5,6,= two faults at once (bit 5, line/neutral reversed, and bit 6, ground fault).
For a combined code, look up each number separately in the table below.
This decoding is not written in Autel's documentation. It is inferred from the match between the vendor code and the OCPP code received from stations supervised by Chargekeeper (6, comes with GroundFailure, 17, with ConnectorLockFailure, 1, with UnderVoltage), and from a user report in which the Autel app shows fault #10 for a control pilot anomaly, i.e. bit 10 (unofficial source).
The information field often contains eCp_12V, eCp_9V or eCp_6V. This is not a fault: it is the control pilot state at the time of the message (12 V: no vehicle; 9 V: vehicle plugged in; 6 V: charging). This reading comes from the IEC 61851 control pilot states; the eCp_ notation is not documented by Autel, nor is the value eCp_unkown. An OtherError message with an empty vendor code and only an eCp_… state has no documented meaning.
Autel gives no mapping to OCPP error codes. The "OCPP code" column gives the ones received from stations supervised by Chargekeeper, when they have been recorded. The combined code 9,23, (two leakage current faults) comes with HighTemperature, whereas over-temperature is bit 8: this inconsistency is unexplained.
No code list was found for the MaxiCharger DC, which only shows messages on its display.

Codes seen on our stations, not documented by Autel
These codes were received from stations supervised by Chargekeeper but do not appear in the
manufacturer's public documentation. The label is the one sent by the station itself.
This text code follows a different format from the bit positions above; it may come from another model or another firmware.
| Code | Label sent by the station | OCPP code |
|---|---|---|
ChgLockErr |
"Charging port electronic lock fault" | ConnectorLockFailure |
LEDs and display
On the MaxiCharger AC Compact and AC Elite, the LED colour shows the type of error. The MaxiCharger DC shows its problems as text on the touchscreen (emergency stop pressed, connector cannot be locked, insulation fault, QR code, RFID badge or network failure), without a code.
| Signal | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Steady yellow or orange | Recoverable error | — |
| Steady red | Unrecoverable error | Contact support |
